What is hand rejuvenation?

Often overlooked as we protect our face and other exposed skin, our hands end up giving away our age. Over time, we lose the volume in our hands, exposing our veins and tendons. Our skin also ages, leading to thin, sun damaged skin with uneven pigment appearing on the backs of our hands. Hand rejuvenation can use a combination of technologies to undo these changes and allow our hands to match the rest of our skin, such as on our face.

What are some common ways to rejuvenate hands?

  • Fillers: hyaluronic acid can be used to add volume to hide tortuous veins and tendons, restoring hands. As we age, we lose volume that exposes these areas and ages us.
  • Biostimulants: Can be used to build back collagen lost in hands to replace lost volume as well as improve skin texture. As we age, we naturally lose collagen. Biostimulants trick the body to grow new strands, biohacking the body’s natural capabilities.
  • Laser/Energy therapy: Laser treatments such as IPL (intense pulsed light) or fractional laser resurfacing can help to reduce the appearance of age spots and sun damage on the hands. These treatments work by eliminating unwanted pigment in the skin and reinforcing the foundational layers of the skin, making them more elastic and resilient.
  • Chemical peels: Chemical peels involve the application of a chemical solution to the skin on the hands, which leads to stem cells replacing the surface layers of the skin. This process can help to improve the texture and tone of the skin, as well as reduce the appearance of age spots and sun damage. Chemical peels can be customized to meet the specific needs of each patient, depending on the severity of their skin concerns.

It's important to consult with a qualified aesthetic physician to determine which treatments are right for you, as every patient's skin is unique and may require a customized approach to treatment.

Am I a candidate for hand rejuvenation?

Many patients don’t want their age to show on their hands and it’s easy to forget to protect the hands as most sunblock application is focused on the face. Hands take a beating from the sun and other elements, as well as working all day. Easy in office treatments can rejuvenate and protect your hands and get them back into pristine shape!
